LITTLE SANDY STREAM MITIGATION BANK SITE
25,000 Linear Feet | Elliott County, KY | Construction Completed in 2015
Natural channel design methods were used to restore streams and riparian corridors with wetland habitats in mountainous terrain. This project focused on the re-establishment and enhancement of perennial and intermittent channels. Re-establishment included placement of grade control structures, riffles, boulder cross-vanes, J-hook vanes, and other habitat features such as toe-wood and large woody debris. Enhancement included spot treatments for bank and gully stabilization, minor meander bend adjustments, and grade control structures to control head cutting.
